What is The Dream Factory?
The Dream Factory is a non-profit organization dedicated to making dreams come true for children battling life-threatening illnesses. While the public often associates it with granting "big dreams," such as meeting celebrities or taking extravagant trips, the organization also provides day-to-day support and small yet meaningful experiences that bring joy and comfort to children and their families.
The Challenge
Despite its invaluable work, The Dream Factory faced a perception issue. Many people saw it only as a wish-granting organization, unaware of its Beyond Dreams program, which provides ongoing support beyond a singular experience. This limited understanding affected community engagement, funding opportunities, and the ability to reach families who could benefit from its services. The challenge was to shift the public’s perception—to emphasize The Dream Factory as a community-driven support system that creates lasting, everyday moments of happiness for children in need.
The Process
We began with an in-depth brand and audience analysis to understand existing perceptions and pinpoint messaging gaps. Through research, we identified two core audiences: community-driven parents and the medical community. Each group had unique motivations and concerns, requiring tailored messaging that resonated with their values.
The next step was refining the messaging strategy. Instead of focusing solely on the “big dreams,” we shifted the narrative to “Celebrating the kid in Dream Kid.” This approach highlighted the everyday moments of joy The Dream Factory creates—attending a sports game, having a birthday party, or simply feeling like a kid despite medical challenges. This shift made the mission more relatable and emotionally compelling.
The Impact
By repositioning its narrative, The Dream Factory successfully deepened its impact, ensuring more children receive the joy, support, and sense of normalcy they deserve —one small but meaningful experience at a time.
